About

Veritas At a Glance

  • Veritas Classical Academy is a PreK-12th grade private independent classical school.
  • We are located on a sprawling 5 acre campus on Harmar Hill in Marietta, Ohio at 115 Victory Place.
  • Our school does not accept government funds, allowing us to offer a truly classical education.
  • School hours are 8:25 a.m. (assembly begins) – 3:00 p.m. (dismissal).
  • We offer after-school programs, club sports, and extracurricular activities.
  • Our PreK/Kindergarten program is half-day only (8:25 a.m.- 12:10 p.m.)
  • Students are required to wear a school uniform.  Upper school students must wear jacket and tie.
  • We do not offer a “hot lunch program.”  Students are expected to bring their own lunch from home.
  • We do not have a busing service.
  • We rarely close for “snow days,” and we do not have “snow delays.”
  • The curriculum includes Latin and Philosophy.
  • We do not burden families with multiple fundraisers or sales.  We have two major fundraising events each year, both designed to highlight the students’ talents and achievements.
  • We operate a house system with three houses: Washington, Saul of Tarsus, and Chesterton. The houses offer opportunities for student leadership, competition, and fellowship.
  • The grades are clustered within each classroom: PreK and Kindergarten are together; first and second are together, and so forth. Please refer to the FAQ for more information.
  • Targeted enrollment: 12 students per grade.  Small class size ensures personalized instruction.
  • Enrollment open to students in Ohio and West Virginia. Nearly one quarter of our students are from West Virginia.
  • Traditional, classical PreK-12 liberal arts curriculum.
  • The fine arts, music, and physical education are integral to the curriculum.
  • Students engage in service projects for the community.
  • Sports are offered based upon participation and budget.  Opportunities for many sports are available through various area community leagues.  In addition, all Ohio resident children attending private schools in the State of Ohio may participate in the sports programs offered by their local public school district.
  • School colors: Navy and Silver.
  • Academy parents are active partners in the education of their children and frequently participate in school programs, projects, and field trips.
