Hello, my name is Jim Weaver. In addition to teaching at Veritas, I am currently serving as the Chief of Police at the Marietta College Police Department where I have worked for the past 15 years. Throughout my law enforcement career, I have served in several capacities including patrolman, investigator, sergeant, lieutenant, and finally chief. I have also held several instructor-level roles as well including Firearms Instructor, Taser Instructor, A.L.i.C.E Instructor, and I taught several courses in the local police academy as well.
I have earned Associate’s, Bachelor’s, and Master’s degrees in criminal justice with my Master’s degree focusing on Public Administration. I have earned hundreds of certificates in a wide range of law enforcement topics and skills including being certified through the State of Ohio as a Master Criminal Investigator.
I am also an adjunct instructor in Criminal Justice at Washington State College of Ohio.
I am very happily married to my high school sweetheart and together we have three wonderful adult children and one grandson. We also have several animals running around that keep us busy as well. We have two large dogs, two cats, several indoor and outdoor fish, and a snake that is about 5 feet long. In my off time I serve as a trustee and security, and run the games for Vacation Bible School at our church, The People’s Church of Boaz. I enjoy many outdoor activities like hiking, fishing, kayaking, and swimming and I also love to cook.
An interesting and little-known fact about me is that I have baked and decorated all of my kids’ birthday cakes.
